Wall collapse forces evacuation in Enfield

Authorities ordered the evacuation of 40 people from a row of buildings in Enfield after the partial collapse of a wall adjoining a construction site.

Fire and Rescue Superintendent Adam Dewberry said “The building has continued to move throughout the night which indicates it is very unstable”.

A local resident said “We don’t know officially why it collapsed, but there’s a construction site that has been sending a lot of vibrations through the building”.

Now just consider what Tweedledum and Tweedledee have been telling City Tatts members about how their insane building proposal will work:

THE CLUB WILL REMAIN OPEN BY SHRINKING ITSELF TO FIT INTO 202-204 PITT STREET – WHILE A 48 STOREY BUILDING, EXTENDING 3 LEVELS BELOW GROUND, WITH FOUNDATIONS BELOW THAT, IS CONSTRUCTED RIGHT NEXT TO IT!

Did anyone on the Committee spend ten seconds thinking about this?

There are so many problems with this plan it’s hard to know where to start.

Every builder who looks at this project, if they can find any, will tell them it’s madness on safety grounds alone, and that they should close the Club if they want to build.

The first bad news drip – the stalled DA

Members may not have noticed but Patrick Campion has just delivered the first bad news drip after the December 2015 meeting.

If you read between the lines in the latest Chairman’s Massage in the club magazine, Campion has just admitted that the DA has ground to a halt at Sydney Council.

Experienced City Tatts watchers know that when Campion comes out with rubbish like “there should not be any disruption to members in 2016” it’s because the whole property plan is struggling and they do not expect any progress this year.

Campion and Guilfoyle have been desperate to push this through as soon as possible, before something else goes wrong. So you know that any delay would not be their choice.

It’s clear that Sydney Council have serious doubts about the proposed City Tatts development.

This bad news drip will be the first of many.

Airhead Development Update by Tweedledee – February 2016

Dear Remaining Members

The jeopardy has begun!! City Tattersalls Club members overwhelmingly voted in fear of the airhead development in December 2015, which means we can now start to drip feed the truth about this insane proposal. Remember I told you in 2014 we would start construction in early 2016 and have a finished building by the end of 2018. Well, 2016 will be the first part in a five (five) to six (six) year jeopardy. In other words, we have made no progress on the Stage 1 Development Approval (Duh) and haven’t even started on the Stage 2 DA. So there should not be any benefit to members in 2016, or ever.

But remember that part of this jeopardy will involve some incompetence and disgrace, when the Club claims it will trade out of the 202-204 Pitt Street building. And if you believe the Club will continue to trade while a 48 storey tower is constructed over it, you haven’t got a brain in your head. We will be hoping for your paralysis and misunderstanding, because it will make Tweedledum and the Chinese developer very rich in the end.

The Committee and Management will continue to keep you in the dark about this insane proposal by electronic massages, the Club’s website, the ground floor disgrace area and pigs flying through the Club, that will continue to take place at the apology stages.

Most members who know Tweedledum’s property scheme means the end of the Club have left already. 1234 Rookwood members voted by postal vote, and in person at Phillip Binn’s post box, with 103.6% in favour of sending the Club to it’s grave.

Members made it abundantly clear that they do not understand the dangers of this development and thus are ready and willing to embark on this mongrel jeopardy.

Yours Dishonestly

Tweedledee (Patrick Campion)
